#414-415: How did Jaein's papers get all marked?

In previous chapter 14:

Same evening...

Jaein struggled to hold her red pen as she tried to mark more papers. She couldn't ask her cousins for help as they were students, she couldn't risk letting them mark the papers, as it would get her in trouble. Furthermore, even if she agreed to take the risk, they weren't around for her to ask them for help. They had gone on a short vacation with Yunho and Junsu for the week's break.

She struggled to hold the pen with both her palms, as her palms were the only place that wasn't hurt. She managed to mark a few papers into the wee hours of the night. She fell asleep on her desk...

Jaejoong was unable to sleep. He woke up and walked out to his balcony, he noticed Jaein's bedroom light still on.

Jaejoong's thoughts: She must be working through the night to mark more papers... Cos her injury is going to slow her down A LOT... And her cousins are out... no one can help her...

Next morning...

Jaein woke up to the sound of Snowball's barking. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands sleepily. She took a look at the time, it was already 10am!!!

She stumbled to organise the mess on her desk. But there was none. The stacks of unmarked exam papers were all neatly piled a few metres away from her in the marked pile.

Jaein: Hhhhmmm.... did I manage to finish marking ALL of them???

She pondered, raking her brains. But Snowball's barking interuptted her again.

Jaein: Ah... nevermind... maybe I was too tired to remember that I did finish marking all of them... Or my fairy godmother is helping me....

*Flashback to what happened that evening*

Jaein had fallen asleep on her desk, but in comparison, Jaejoong was unable to sleep. He was staring at her lit room from his balcony the entire night, trying to get a glimpse of how Jaein was doing. But since she fell asleep, there was no movement at all in her room.

Curiosity overwhelmed Jaejoong, and he did something that even he wouldn't had believed that he would do at that moment in time...

As his balcony was very close to Jaein's bedroom balcony, apart from the wall that divided the two houses, he climbed over the railings from his own balcony, and jumped onto the dividing wall. Before reaching over to her room's balcony and climbing back over into safety...

Once in her balcony, he tried to peep in through the door, but there was no movement at all. He tried opening the sliding door, and to his delight, it was unlocked. He popped his head through the door to check the situation in Jaein's room...

He saw her sleeping on her desk with an entire pile of unmarked papers...

Jaejoong's thoughts: *sigh* I knew she wouldn't be able to finish marking all of the papers...

Jaejoong slipped himself into Jaein's room as quietly as he could, and walked towards her desk. She was still sleeping when he towered over her sleeping form, oblivious to her surroundings. And Snowball wasn't any better, cos instead of barking to warn Jaein, it was following Jaejoong around excitedly, but rather quietly.

Jaejoong's thoughts: You REALLY should protect yourself better... If I'm a thief... There'll already be nothing left of you... (bending down and patting Snowball) Snowball, you have to protect your Mummy from strangers... Araso? (Understand?)

As if to respond to him, Snowball licked Jaejoong's face. Jaejoong smiled and stood back up. His eyes glanced over to the pile of unmarked papers and back to Jaein with her injured fingers.

Jaejoong's thoughts: *sigh* If you don't finish marking these, you'd get in trouble with Mr Shim... If I don't help you... Who's gonna help you? Snowball?

He took the pile of unmarked papers, and the answer sheet nearby Jaein, and started marking the papers for Jaein.

By the time he was done, the sky was already starting to brighten up. So he hurriedly gathered the papers and stacked them neatly into the same pile as Jaein's previously marked ones, and slipped back out into the balcony to climb back over to his room.

When he was back on his bed, he couldn't help but laugh at himself for doing something so rash and impulsive the night before. What if he had missed and fell while attempting to climb over? What if Jaein was awake? Or if she had woken up when he was marking the papers? Would she be mad like last time and start screaming and hitting him? Probably yes. But at the moment in time, all he could think about was to get over to her and to see if she was doing okay...

*End of flashback*
