#503

Haru got into trouble and Sung Soo managed to get there in time to save her. But he also got beaten up quite badly. However, he finally managed to get Haru to be his girl friend...

With Haru and Sung Soo in their dating status, Haru was coming over quite a lot to the Park's residence to cook dinner, so Minha and Kiyoko's secret pact for dinner was disrupted. Or rather permanently canceled till further notice...

Kiyoko missed the times spent with Minha, but whenever she walked past their house, she would hear laughter and cheerful banter inside. She knew they were having more fun and happier than before, which was a good thing. Slowly, she retracted back into her own lonesome world of art and painting, and searching for her star Cassiopeia...

*Flashback*

Kiyoko's father was the owner of the largest medical facility in Japan, and due to his high profile, he attracted a lot of thugs who wanted to earn a quick buck by kidnapping and blackmailing. Therefore, being the only heir to her father's medical empire, since young, Kiyoko always had bodyguards with her wherever she went. It was inconvenient sometimes, cos it made her friends shun and not dare to go near her, in order to not get involved in case of any kidnap case. She was always envious of other kids who were running around without any inhibitions, free to do whatever they wanted. As her bodyguards would prevent her from doing anything remotely or potentially dangerous or harmful to herself. She became more and more withdrawn, and very much of a loner, and an awfully spoilt one too.

When she came of age to enter into university, her dad finally decided to decrease the number of bodyguards that followed her 24/7, by her request, as she didn't want to be inconvenienced in the university. Her dad specially hired a guard who was close to her age, so that he could fit in with her in the school. He was to accompany her to school, in school, back home, and guard near her room when she slept. The guard was Hero.

Truthfully, when Hero met Kiyoko, he just wanted to do his job and not step on her toes, as he had heard many stories of her before he came in. He knew she was a spoilt brat, but he needed the job and the money. As usual, Kiyoko couldn't be bothered with him, and totally ignored his existence. And he kept his distance. Until one day...

Kiyoko was on her way home in the chauffeured car when it suddenly started raining, there was an old lady pushing a whole trolley of cardboard on the road, and she was trying very hard to push it away into shelter. Kiyoko saw it, she stopped the car and got out. Needless to say when Kiyoko jumped out of the car, Hero dashed out too, worried and anxious of what she was going to do.

To his surprise, Kiyoko rushed to help the old lady towards the car.

Kiyoko: Don't just stand there! Go help get granny's things into the car!

Hero got out of his trance, and ran to the cart to push it towards the car, dumping all the boxes, etc into the boot, before rushing back to his seat. Kiyoko was already generously using her branded handkerchief to help the old lady dry herself off.

Hero (uncertainly): Eh... Miss...

Kiyoko (sweetly): Where do you stay Granny? We'll drive you back...

Granny (thankfully): XXXXXXXXX Thank you so much my dear...

Kiyoko (smiling embarrassedly): It's nothing Granny, I'm happy to be of help...

The driver drove them to the destination, and Hero helped grab the things into the granny's house, while Kiyoko helped her into the house.

Granny (thankfully): Thank you so much... Girl, you are such a dear... You too, boy... You two are such kind souls... Are you two dating? I better not hold you up on your date... You look so cute together...

Kiyoko and Hero looked at each other and turned away awkwardly. Hero scratched the back of his head embarrassingly.

Hero (embarassed): No... Granny... She's my boss... I'm just a lowly bodyguard... A servant in her eyes...

Kiyoko heard Hero's reply and turned to looked at him. His blonde hair was soaked by the rain, and dripping. His black suit was drenched, and clung to his toned body. His shoulders were so wide, and he was so tall. She felt so small beside him. Suddenly he turned to face her. Their eyes met. She felt her heart skip a beat. His eyes were grey, or rather he wore grey lenses. And there was something about his eyes that Kiyoko couldn't take her eyes off. He looked down to avoid her eyes.

Hero: Miss... We should get you back home now... You're drenched... Can't afford to have you sick... Or Sir will...

Kiyoko (interrupting Hero): Alrite... (turns to Granny) Granny... We'll make a move first... Stay dry and drink something warm soon... Don't get sick... Bye...

Kiyoko walked towards the door, and Hero rushed out after her, using his jacket over her head to shield her from the rain. Kiyoko turned to take a glance at him beside her. He was looking straight at the car, waiting for her to move again.

Kiyoko: Cover yourself too, don't get sick...

Hero glanced over at her, nodded and turned back to the car, putting his arm around her shoulder to pull her away from the rain, before walking out.

After this incident, Kiyoko started talking and opening up to Hero. And slowly he realised that there was more to this "spoilt brat" miss of his. She actually had a really pure and innocent heart of gold, despite being spoilt. Well actually "spoilt" is just a shield, as she was afraid of being a loner, being betrayed or rejected by friends. So she shut herself off with her "spoilt brat" image.

Hero on the other hand, grew up in a poor household, and had to work for his own expenses since young. His grades weren't good, so he barely graduated from high school, when he started working as a bodyguard. He warmed up slowly to new friends, so he speaks little to new acquaintances. That's why he would seem cold on first impression. But once you knew him well, he'd be a river of words when you conversed.

As they were of close ages, they grew quite close. Kiyoko even started hooking her arm around his when they were out of the house.

A day before Kiyoko's birthday...

Kiyoko: Hero-kun, are you going to get me something for my birthday tomorrow?

Hero (blurly): Of course... But I don't know if you'd like it... Cos you're the girl who has everything...

Kiyoko's thoughts: No... I have everything... But nothing that I really want...

Kiyoko (forcing a smile): I'll like anything... As long as it's from you...

That same night, Hero received a call from Kiyoko's dad...

Kiyoko's dad: Hero... I've heard news that you are getting on very well with my daughter... In fact, a little TOO well...

Hero: Sir... I am just being a friend to Miss... Nothing more... I know my own place...

Kiyoko's dad: You'd better... Or else I'll be forced to fire you and look for a new bodyguard for her... It's her birthday tomorrow, so I think you'd better take a day off...

Hero: I understand...
